【MBA 2015年入学用出願締切日】 Dartmouth (Tuck)

Dartmouth College (Tuck School)で出願締切日が発表されました。他校の制度に見られる、1st, 2nd Roundといった名称とは異なりますが、遅くともJanuary Roundでの出願をターゲットに準備を進めていきましょう。

【Recommendation Letters】 Stanford

Stanford GSBの出願締切日（application deadlines)とエッセイ課題も発表されました。そうした中、私が着目したのはエッセイ課題数（昨年の3題から今年は2題）よりも推薦状の数でした。下記URLのRequirements箇所には、以下掲載されています。

We request two letters of reference:
• One reference from your current direct supervisor (or next best alternative) at work
• Your choice of either one additional supervisor reference or one peer reference.

昨年までは3通要求されており、Peer referenceにおける”Peer”を誰にするか？の選定で頭を悩ませるケースが度々見られましたが、今年はその悩みも軽減されるでしょうか。そうした一方で、「では、Additional Supervisor’s ReferenceとPeer Referenceのいずれを提出した方が、合格の可能性が高まるでしょうか？」という相談内容が寄せられてきそうです。。。

私からの基本アドバイスとしては、まずは出願者として「自分像」をより多角的に見せることが出来るコンテンツを提供してくれる推薦者にその作成を依頼してくださいに尽きます。もちろん、その「多角的」というポイントをカスタマイズしていくにあたっては、個々のキャリアに関する棚卸作業（自己分析作業）を行った上で共に考えていきましょう。

【MBA 2015年入学用出願締切日】 Columbia

Columbiaでも出願締切日が発表されました。例年のごとく、同校はRolling Admissions形式を採用していますが、October 8のEarly Decisionの後における出願時期としては、Merit Fellowship Cosiderationと同じ1月7日をターゲットにスケジュールを立てていきましょう。

【TOEFL】 Cambridge

先月から問題が表面化していました、Application MaterialとしてのTOEFLの扱いに関し、University of Cambridgeは下記内容を発表しました。

The Home Office has suspended accepting ETS tests as evidence of English language ability. This includes the Princeton TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language), and as a result the University of Cambridge will no longer be accepting TOEFL test scores as sufficient to meet the language entry requirements for Graduate study.

Applicants wishing to meet their language condition should take a test with an alternative provider.

Applicants who have already provided a TOEFL test taken before 1 May 2014 will be contacted by email with further information relating to admission and visa applications.

If you have already booked a TOEFL test, ETS has advised that students seeking more information on test cancellation and refund policies should contact TOEFL Services by emailing toefl@ets.org.

記憶と記録

本日から５月へと突入しました。2015年秋入学に向け、明後日からの4連休における時間の使い方も大切になってきますね。当学院にも出願準備に関する相談へお越しになられる受講生やプロスペクトの方々も増えて参りました。

これから準備を開始する方も、既に始められた方々もそうですが、i-Padでも、手書きのノートでも構わないので、私は出願者が自らの準備状況を記録していくことを勧めています（当方が出願指導に携わる受験生の皆さんは、丹念にメモを取られています）。そうした私も、普段から何かことあるごとペンとメモ帳持参して記録し続けています。こうして書き出す作業を経験しますと、後で振り返った時に、自らの言動や心理状態を客観的に把握するのに役立つと思います。こうして客観的な視点を意識し、持ち続けることは、その先にある目標と現状とのギャップを認識させてくれると同時に、自分のタスクへ集中するための活力にもなると思います。
