Penn Law : Dual degree program in International Finance & Law

University of Pennsylvania, Law SchoolとScience Po in ParisのDual Master’s Degree Programの紹介です。ここ数年の傾向として、LL.M. Degree＋One-year Masers Degreeを組み合わせた教育プログラムが目立ちます。今後の新たなトレンドにもなりうるかもしれません。

The Dual Master’s degree program in International Finance and Law is a two-year, full-time Master’s Program, offered by Sciences Po in Paris and Penn Law. Students will spend their first year at Sciences Po and their second year at Penn Law. Courses offered in this program span a wide range of disciplines and are ideal for students interested in management, finance, corporate law and international law.

After two years of study, provided all requirements have been met at both institutions, students will receive Master’s degrees from both Sciences Po (Master’s in Finance and Strategy) and Penn Law (LLM). Students interested in this program must apply through Sciences-Po and be accepted by both institutions. Please note, applications for this program are to be submitted to Sciences-Po only for this program.

The application for the LL.M. class beginning in August 2017 will open in September 2016.  The application deadline for the LL.M. class beginning in August 2017 will be December 1, 2016, at 11:59 p.m., U.S. Eastern time.

In addition to submitting the online LL.M. application by the deadline, applicants must make sure that any other required documents (e.g., transcripts, TOEFL results) are sent out in time for delivery to our office on or before the deadline. Please note that the application deadline will be strictly observed. It is your responsibility to make certain that all required materials reach the Graduate Program office by the deadline.

出願締め切り日に直前にTOEFLを受験し、締め切り日後にスコアの差し替えをリクエストするケースも時としてあります、スクール側として、そうしたリクエストには応じない姿勢が読み取れます。

2) どちらのラウンドで出願する予定ですか？
→できれば1Rd・・・といった考えではなく、第二グループは1st Rd, 第一グループは2nd Rdといった方針を定めていますか？

3) キャンパス訪問
→行いますか？それとも予定していませんか？

4) GMATやGREの受験時期はいつ頃を予定していますか？

5) 学校関係者とのコンタクトはいつ頃を予定していますか？

6) 推薦状の人選は進んでいますか？既に依頼されましたか？

7) Resume/Curricula VitaeやEssayの作成はいつ頃からスタートしますか？そのため、自分の経歴に関する棚卸し作業は終えられていますか？

今、ここで何に注力すべきか明確になっていますか？
合格するために第一歩として、その課題事項の明確化を行っていきましょう。
そして、仕事の予定等と照らし合わせながら、自らにとって最適な出願スケジュールを作り上げましょう。

Checklist for the LLM Application Process from LSAC

12月の中旬に向け、出願を控える方々もいらっしゃると思いますが、今回はLSACサイト画面より以下の箇所（確認事項）を共有させていただきます。ResumeやSOPの作成に注力するあまり、時としてLSACの入力作業そのものがストップしているケースも見られます。この連休中にも、自らの出願作業に関する優先順位付など、しっかりと足元を見直していきましょう。

・You should purchase the required services at least four to six weeks before your first law school application deadline. It takes approximately two weeks to process a US transcript or letter of recommendation from the time it is received by LSAC. Transcripts from non-US institutions may take longer.

・Allow two weeks from the time of receipt for LSAC to process your domestic transcripts. Transcripts from undergraduate and graduate institutions located outside the United States require additional processing time.

・You must provide all profile information needed to complete your LLM CAS file. Information provided in electronic law school applications, even those transmitted through LSAC, does not automatically transfer to your LLM CAS file.

UCLA LL.M. Programの出願締め切り日が発表されました。

Application Deadline: Please submit your application and supporting documents (items 1-5 in the section below) to LSAC no later than February 15, 2016.

出願書類の説明箇所に下記にPersonal Statement要綱が記載されておりますが、フォントのサイズやdouble-spacedで3頁以内に纏めるといった条件は厳守した上で出願してください。限られたスペースで自らが伝えたいことを纏めるライティング技術も審査の対象であることを忘れないでください。

■ Personal Statement：
An important aspect of the application is the personal statement, in which applicants describe their objectives in pursuing graduate legal studies at UCLA School of Law. Discuss any matters relevant to your ability to succeed in law school and the practice of law, and any attributes, experiences, or interests that would enable you to make a distinctive contribution to UCLA and the legal profession. The personal statement should be typed double-spaced in 12-point font, and should not exceed three pages in length. When completing your online application through LSAC, please follow the instructions to attach an electronic copy of your personal statement to your application.

University of Chicago, LL.M. Programの出願締め切り日です。
他校にはないシステムを採用しておりますので、下記のインストラクションを熟読した上で、テストの受験日等を設定してください。

December 15—Priority application submission deadline. On or before this date candidates should have submitted their Basic Information Form electronically to the Law School and the following items to the LSAC LLMCAS: application for admission, personal statement, and resume. Candidates may apply after December 15. They do not need to ask permission to do this. They should understand, however, that they assume the risk that most admission decisions will have been made by the time their applications have been completed and reviewed by the Graduate Studies Committee. Candidates who do apply after December 15 should include with their personal statements an explanation about why they did not apply before the deadline.

January 15—Priority application completion deadline. Although most applicants will have completed their applications (application for admission, personal statement, resume, transcripts, TOEFL/IELTS scores, and letters of recommendation) by the December 15 deadline, candidates whose applications are completed between December 15 and January 15 will receive full application review before decisions are sent out on February 15. Applications completed after January 15 will be reviewed once they are complete, but those candidates should understand that, as a practical matter, the later we review a completed application, the less likely we are to be able to offer admission. This timing varies from year to year, and it is impossible to predict ahead of time when we will have to stop offering admission to candidates.

Vanderbilt University, LL.M.プログラムの出願締め切り日です。以下、Rolling Basis Admissions Cycleを考慮した出願時期の設定ですが、他大学の締め切り日との兼ね合いもありますので、まずは出願校を確定し、それぞれの出願時期（Early oｒ Regular or Rolling Basis)を把握した上で、その「時期」を決定していきましょう。

LL.M. Selection Process

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. We make decisions on individual applications as quickly as possible, although the time required may vary from case to case. 【LL.M. 2016年秋入学用出願締め切り日】　University of Southern California

University of Southern California, LL.M. Programの出願締め切り日です。

The application deadline for the 2016-17 academic year is March 1, 2016. Applications received after our deadline will be accepted on a rolling basis up until May 1st. The USC Gould School of Law $75 application fee will be waived for all applicants who submit their applications via LSAC by our priority deadline, March 1. As we make admissions decisions as we receive complete applications, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

If you are planning to take the TOEFL or IELTS exam after our March 1, priority application deadline, we highly recommend that you submit your application (and any other completed materials) by our deadline and we will accept your test scores after you receive your official results. The Admissions Committee will make a final admissions decision upon receipt of your complete application file.

こうした作業は「スコアの差し替え」を意味しますが、他校では上記の条件が適用されるでしょうか。こうした点も確認しておきましょう。

Submitting Your Application

Complete, sign and date the LSAC Electronic Application form. The following items should be submitted with your online application form:

1. USC Law Electronic Application,

4. Personal Statement,

We will not review your application until all of your materials have been received. Please print a copy of your online application for your personal records, and maintain a copy of all documents you submit with your application. USC cannot return or provide you with copies of any part of your application, transcripts, translations, letters of recommendation, or supporting materials.

【LL.M. 2016年秋入学用出願締め切り日】　University of Virginia

University of Virginia, LL.M.の出願締め切り日です。

Applications, including all supporting materials, must be received by Feb. 1. Applications that are not complete on this date will be reviewed on a space-available basis at the discretion of the Graduate Committee. Applicants are notified by email when their applications are complete. If you have not received an email from us telling you that your application is complete, you should not assume it is complete. Candidates are strongly advised to apply early in the fall semester of the year prior to the one for which they seek admission. Although completed applications are not due until Feb. 1, the Graduate Committee follows a “rolling admissions” policy and offers of admission may be made before the Feb. 1 deadline. Therefore, it is advantageous to apply early.

Interviews
A personal interview is not required as part of the evaluation process. Interested persons are, however, welcome to visit the Law School, sit in on classes and meet with the director or another member of the Graduate Committee. Such visits must be arranged in advance by contacting the Graduate Studies Office. Interested candidates are also able to set up a videoconference or Skype interview.
