What should I know about Early Action?
https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/daytime-mba/faq

If you are interested in joining Fuqua and are ready for a decision, Early Action might be right for you. Before you decide, consider the following:

  • The Early Action option is ideal if you have completed your MBA research and have decided that this is the best program for you.
  • If you are admitted in Early Action, you need to submit a tuition deposit along with official transcript(s) by December 2018.
  • If you’re admitted, you commit to a binding agreement to attend Fuqua.
  • You must withdraw any applications submitted to other schools once you are offered admission from Fuqua.
  • Scholarships are awarded according to the same guidelines in the Early Action round as they are offered in Rounds 1 and 2; however, due to the binding nature of the Early Action round, you are required to attend with or without a scholarship award.
  • Regardless of citizenship, all Early Action applicants residing in the U.S. (except on the West Coast) are required to travel to Durham to interview during the Open Interview Period.

そして、スコアの差し替え(UPDATING YOUR TEST SCORE)に関しては以下のように説明されています。

UPDATING YOUR TEST SCORES:
https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/daytime-mba/faq

We encourage you to submit your application with the scores you wish to use. If you would like to update your test scores, please send an email to application-processing@fuqua.duke.edu to ask to have the score updated in your application.

If your updated scores are received after your application has been reviewed, we cannot guarantee that the admissions committee will be able to review your updated score.

こうした出願者からのスコアの差し替えリクエストに関しては、各校のFAQページ(サイト)をご確認ください。

◆英語テストに関する情報
Q. Do I need to submit an English as a Second Language Test score?
https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/daytime-mba/faq

English as a Second Language test scores are not required, but we encourage you to include valid scores that you may have available. If you are applying for the joint degree with the Nicholas School of the Environment (MBA/MEM), please note that ESL test scores are required to complete the joint application.

Duke University (Fuqua)

Duke, Fuquaのエッセイ課題が発表されました。
http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/daytime-mba/admissions/application-instructions/

Required Short Answer Questions

Instructions: Answer all 3 of the following questions. For each question, respond in 500 characters only (the equivalent of about 100 words).

  1. What are your short-term goals, post-MBA?
  2. What are your long-term goals?
  3. Life is full of uncertainties, and plans and circumstances can change. As a result, navigating a career requires you to be adaptable. Should the short-term goals that you provided above not materialize what alternative directions have you considered?

First Required Essay: 25 Random Things About Yourself

Instructions: Present your response in list form, numbered 1 to 25. Some points may be only a few words, while others may be longer. Your complete list should not exceed 2 pages.

The “Team Fuqua” spirit and community is one of the things that sets The Duke MBA experience apart, and it is a concept that extends beyond the student body to include faculty, staff, and administration. When a new person joins the Admissions team, we ask that person to share with everyone in the office a list of “25 Random Things About Yourself.” As an Admissions team, we already know the new hire’s professional and academic background, so learning these “25 Random Things” helps us get to know someone’s personality, background, special talents, and more.

In this spirit, the Admissions Committee also wants to get to know you–beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. You can share with us important life experiences, your likes/dislikes, hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are. Share with us your list of “25 Random Things” about YOU.

Second Required Essay

Instructions: Your response should be no more than 2 pages in length.

Fuqua prides itself on cultivating a culture of engagement. Our students enjoy a wide range of student-led organizations that provide opportunities for leadership development and personal fulfillment, as well as an outlet for contributing to society. Our student-led government, clubs, centers, and events are an integral part of the student culture and are vital to providing you with a range of experiential learning and individual development experiences.

Based on your understanding of the Fuqua culture, how do you see yourself engaging in and contributing to our community, outside of the classroom?

Optional Essay

If you feel there are circumstances of which the Admissions Committee should be aware, please explain them in an optional essay (such as unexplained gaps in work, choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance).

  • Do NOT upload additional essays nor additional recommendations in this area of the application.
  • The Optional Essay is intended to provide the Admissions Committee with insight into your circumstances only.
  • Limit your response to one page.

About 40-45% of our students are not from the US. We think it’s really important to be a global business school because we’re completely interdependent and it will be better if we recognise that we need to work with people who are different from us.

Leaders should be able to bring about collective diversity which starts with the assumption that we’re stronger because we’re together and we’re different. When people believe you care about them something amazing happens. Then they do have a sense of shared identity. They feel valued and welcome. Supportive ambition is really important.

Our emphasis is on making sure that in our curriculum we not only give people a sense of economic institutions and the way people conduct business but also behaviors that exist in different parts of the world. It’s important to create, practical global first hand experiences for our students, and you need to be someone who can embrace differences.

One of our great advantage is that we’re so fundamentally interdisciplinary. The emphasis is on fostering team spirit, and we have this thing called team Fuqua, which is an important part of our MBA experience.
