Round 1
Deadline: September 19, 2017
Notification Date : December 14, 2017

Round 2
Deadline: January 10, 2018
Notification Date: March 29, 2018

Round 3
Deadline: April 4, 2018
Notification Date: Mid May, 2018

Selecting an Application Round

You may apply in any one of the three application rounds each year.

If you plan to apply in round one or two, we strongly encourage you to apply in round one. Over the last few years, the number of applications we receive in round two has increased, making it more competitive.

Do not rush your application, but there are some advantages to applying in either the first or second round, including:

  • The ability to receive a need-based financial aid award from the Financial Aid Office prior to the date by which you must respond to your offer of admission.
  • Ample time to complete recommended quantitative and/or English language coursework prior to arrival on campus.
  • Access to the on-campus housing lottery and/or housing at Highland Hall and Schwab Residential Center.
  • Sufficient time to complete the visa application process (international students).
  • The opportunity to attend Admit Weekend (there is no Admit Weekend for Round 3).

If you want to use one application to apply for both the MBA and MSx Programs, you must apply in Round 1 or 2. You may apply in Round 3 to both programs, but you would need to complete two separate applications.

Why did you apply to our school?”
http://mbablogs.anderson.ucla.edu/mba_admissions/2017/03/from-the-deans-desk-top-5-reasons-to-connect-with-alumni-when-applying.html

The process of applying to graduate business school has many important steps – taking the GMAT® exam, writing essays, securing letters of recommendation, visiting campuses, among others. One often overlooked resource to consider is the alumni community. Alumni can provide information that you are seeking and in some cases, information that you may not have considered before.

Below are my top 5 reasons why you should connect with alumni during your application process.

  1. Experience the school culture. Each school has its own culture and climate. Speaking with alumni allows you to experience that culture first hand. You can also ask what type of people attend the school (bankers, consultants, marketers, teachers). Ask if it is a competitive environment, do people support each other, is diversity and inclusion valued at the school, etc.
  2. Get advice on best way to visit campus /see program in full action. Alumni can provide great advice on how to structure your visit, how to contact
faculty, meet with students, possibly sit in on a class, etc.
  3. Gain insights into career options and opportunities. One of the top reasons you are going to business school is to advance your career. Alumni are great resources to understand the impact of the school’s career management center on his/her career, what companies recruit/hire students at that school, learn about the career outcomes of other alumni.
  4. Provide a window into specific experiences. Business school is not just about taking classes. It is a wonderful way to test your limits and get out of your comfort zone. Alumni can provide a “window” into specific experiences for consideration – favorite courses, school faculty, classmates, global experiences, signature conferences, academic internships, community service, etc.
  5. Get answers to the “I didn’t know what I didn’t know” questions. Alumni can provide information that’s otherwise hard to find, such as answers to questions about financing your MBA and learning about pre-MBA internship opportunities.

At UCLA Anderson, alumni participate in a variety of capacities to help prospects understand the power of the UCLA Anderson MBA. Many alumni host lunch events, inviting prospects to join and learn about the school. Others meet one-on-one within their own firm for a coffee chat, and then more participate in school sponsored events (e.g. recruiting events on the road) to provide their voice on why they chose Anderson.

【New Director of MBA Admissions】Stanford GSB

https://www.gsb.stanford.edu/newsroom/school-news/kirsten-moss-new-assistant-dean-director-mba-admissions

Stanford GSB today named Kirsten Moss as the new Assistant Dean and Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid. In this role, Moss will oversee and manage Stanford GSB’s Admissions and Financial Aid team and map out a vision for reaching, recruiting and selecting top MBA candidates.

Moss previously served in several roles within Stanford GSB’s MBA Admissions team, including Director of MBA Admissions and Associate Director of Evaluation. During her tenure, Moss managed the evaluation, marketing, and operations teams, and developed a new approach to assessing leadership capability.

Prior to joining Stanford GSB, Moss worked at Harvard Business School as Managing Director, MBA Admissions and Financial Aid. Moss has also held positions in corporate consulting and finance.

Stanford GSB selected Moss after conducting an extensive search. This process was chaired by Senior Associate Dean Yossi Feinberg and included interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Moss’ appointment will begin June 1 and she will report to Feinberg.

“Kirsten has deep experience in admissions and leadership talent evaluation both inside and outside Stanford GSB,” Feinberg said. “Throughout our search process, Kirsten demonstrated her expertise and commitment to helping Stanford GSB continue to attract and develop the future leaders of tomorrow. I have every confidence that Kirsten will continue the MBA’s strong trajectory.”

Moss succeeds Derrick Bolton, who served as Assistant Dean for MBA Admissions and Financial Aid for 15 years before accepting a new position in September 2016 as Dean of Admissions for Stanford’s Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program.

“Kirsten has a strong understanding of our school’s vision and immediately impressed us with her ideas for connecting with the next generation of students making a positive, measurable difference in the world,” said Jonathan Levin, Philip H. Knight Professor and Dean of Stanford GSB. “Kirsten brings a wealth of knowledge and experience — from top-tier MBA admissions programs to business consulting — and will provide fresh insight as we achieve new levels of excellence.”

“Stanford GSB has a rich legacy of equipping students with the tools necessary to create change — individually, within organizations and throughout the world,” said Moss. “I’m thrilled to join the team in this new capacity as we work together to cultivate the next generation of leaders poised to make an impact.”

Moss earned a bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and is currently pursuing a doctorate of psychology from William James College.
